Welcome to Pender High School.  We are a rural school, serving approximately 650 students in grades 9-12. The school is located approximately 5 miles west of Burgaw, NC on Highway 53.

Marlee Butler was accepted to NCSSM!


Marlee Butler, daughter of Tom and Janice Butler, has been accepted into the North Carolina School of Science and Math.  This is a two-year, public residential high school located in Durham, NC.  This school focuses on an intensive study of science, mathematics, and technology.  Rising juniors from across North Carolina must go through a competitive review process prior to admission; Marlee was the only student from Pender County accepted this school year.    Congratulations Marlee!

Pender High Points of Pride:

  • Pender's 2009-10 End of Course test scores rose nearly 15 points over 2008-09 
  • The graduation rate rose a statistically incredible 20 points
  • PHS carried the highest math scores in the county 
  • PHS managed to close the achievement gap in the area of math between black and white males
  • PHS won the 2011 1A Volleyball state title and Football and Basketball teams played in the State Championship games.
